Check Kootenai County VINELink

VINELink Kootenai County is a free notification service for custody status. It tells you whether a person is in custody after an arrest. It also sends alerts about release or transfer. That makes it different from a booking report. A daily roster shows who was arrested recently, with mugshots and charges. VINELink answers one question instead: where is this person right now? New bookings can take time to appear, since arrest and transport happen first. For a full picture, pair VINELink with the official Kootenai County arrest roster, then call the jail with urgent questions.

Kootenai VINELink Custody Connection

The KCSO In-Custody Report page sits beside the sheriff's custody reports. It gives VINE its county-level anchor. KCSO describes it as a way to track custody status or court events. Alerts cover release, transfer, escape, and case changes.

Statewide backing comes from the Idaho Sheriffs' Association. The association runs Idaho victim services with Appriss. That system links to jail booking systems across Idaho and to the Department of Correction. So search the live service by state first, then the county or facility. This placement explains the county connection. It does not promise every Kootenai record carries photos or instant posting.

Verify urgent status: VINELink can lag a fresh booking or status change. Compare the county roster and call the jail when timing is critical.

Check a Person on VINELink

Search through VINELink's current search interface rather than a saved page. Fields and labels shift over time. Follow what the live form shows, and keep the KCSO roster open alongside it.

  1. Choose Idaho as the state or service area.
  2. Select or search Kootenai County or the relevant facility when the interface offers that choice.
  3. Enter the full name and an accepted booking or offender identifier when available.
  4. Review possible matches for spelling, hyphens, facility, and custody clues; do not rely on a name alone.
  5. Compare the result with the current Kootenai County jail roster and contact the jail if the sources conflict.

The official VINELink search screen appears below. Open the live source first. Controls and available fields can change at any time.

What Kootenai VINELink May Show

VINELink is a notification layer. It is not a full jail record. Fields depend on what the participating custody or court system supplies. Kootenai County publishes no feed schema listing every field it sends. Read the current result instead of assuming.

Result element How to use it
Name or identifier Match against more than one clue when names are common.
Agency or facility Distinguish county jail, IDOC, and another participating location.
Custody status Treat it as the service's current reported state, subject to lag.
Status event Release, transfer, escape, or another supported change may trigger notice.
Court event Where offered, use it as an alert, then confirm through the court record.
Photo Do not expect one; VINE is not a mugshot gallery.

A VINELink entry gives status, nothing more. "Released" from one facility may still leave other holds or supervision in place. For the case outcome, check the Idaho court record.

Register Kootenai Custody Alerts

Find the right match first. Then use its registration control. KCSO describes phone and email notice specifically. State IDOC victim-services material adds text alerts. Modes vary by record, so pick only what the live result offers.

  1. Open the notification control from the verified person or case result.
  2. Choose an offered phone, text, or email channel and enter accurate contact details.
  3. Create and save the four-digit PIN when phone notification requires one.
  4. Review the event types and source shown before completing registration.
  5. Test or confirm registration through the live instructions, then keep the jail and victim-services contacts available.

IDOC says phone calls repeat every two hours for 48 hours until a four-digit PIN is entered. That rule comes from state prison victim services. Kootenai County jail alerts need not behave the same way. Trust the registration terms shown for the actual match.

Idaho VINE Alerts Have Boundaries

KCSO uses the VINE name and links the general service. No Kootenai SAVIN brand exists. There is no county-only portal either, and no public county feed-field spec. Current KCSO, Idaho Sheriffs' Association, and IDOC pages describe active VINE and VINELink services. One older parole page carried stale language. The live Idaho and Kootenai selection still needs confirming by hand.

An empty result has many causes. Intake may not have reached the connected system yet. Spelling may differ. The person may be released, transferred, or held under a protected record. Another jurisdiction may hold the custody. Federal coverage is not guaranteed: a U.S. Marshals hold can show on the Kootenai roster, but federal prison and immigration custody run on separate systems.

County custody
Check the KCSO current roster and jail.
State custody
Use the Idaho Department of Correction resident search and state VINE context.
Federal custody
Use the Bureau of Prisons locator where applicable.
Immigration custody
Use the federal ICE locator rather than assuming VINE coverage.

Verify Fresh Kootenai Arrests

For a fresh arrest, open the KCSO Current Inmate List. Search the surname with PDF Find. Read the full entry: arrest type, agency, date, offense, case, and bond. The roster can list older custody dates and outside-agency holds. Its current-as-of stamp is a snapshot, not a promise of continuous updates.

Next, check Kootenai County 24 Hour Arrests for the daily report's window. That report runs on a 05:00 boundary. Intake finished after its query may not appear. If the person still cannot be found, call Kootenai County Jail at 208-446-1400. The jail answers current custody questions. KCSO Records handles record requests, and a court source gives the case disposition.

Once registration succeeds, VINE should cut down manual checking. Still, no automated alert should be the only basis for an urgent safety or legal decision. Save the confirmation. Report any mismatch through the relevant provider.

Kootenai Arrest Status Versus Outcome

Custody status and case outcome are two different things. One tells you where a person is held right now. The other is settled later in court. Booking means a person enters the Kootenai County Jail after an arrest. A transfer moves them to another custodian. Release means they leave the reported custody state. The disposition is the court's final word on those charges. Each term answers its own question, so keep them straight. Someone can walk out of the jail. They may still face a court order, supervision, or a separate hold from another agency.

A sentenced person who moves into state custody belongs in an IDOC search. Federal transfers need the proper federal source. The Kootenai County recent-arrests hub shows custody stages. It connects them to the roster and the booking record. VINELink is best treated as an early alert. When a notice arrives, write down the time and the event it names. Then confirm the person's current location with the custodian listed. Automated messages can flag a change. They rarely explain transport details, extra holds, or the next hearing date. Think of a notice as a prompt to check, not a full case file.
